A module seeking to heighten student's opportunity to study critically and analytically, issues that are relevant to the supportive and harmful effects of the environment on human development. A module aimed at creating an awareness of the potential effects on the health of the individual in the working environment, by exploring the effects of the work environment on the health of the individual and the effect that the individuals' health status may have on increasing risk factors in the workplace. - Waste Management & Recycling, ES3000 A module aimed at giving the student an awareness of the alternative technologies for dealing with wastes and to provide a working knowledge of the technological, economic, social, political and environmental issues that guide both EC and UK waste mangement policies and legislation. Topics presented include atomic and molecular structure, states of matter, acids and bases, polymers, corrosion, health-related issues (radon, formaldehyde, pesticides, asbestos), and global issues (ozone, greenhouse effect). Naval Occupational Safety and Health, and Environmental Training Center
- Ergonomics, A-493-0024
The purpose of this course is to provide safety specialists, managers, and industrial hygienists who are required to perform ergonomics program management/administrative functions with the training to independently develop and implement back injury prevention and cumulative trauma disorder (CTD) prevention programs. The course content includes back injury prevention; CTDs; workplace design; tool and equipment selection and design; displays and controls; and environmental stressors. 5 days. May 97, July 97
